Education/Training
Leland Frates graduated from the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in Music in 2008. He is a vocalist. From 2008 to 2010 he continued at Pacific to complete the Certification in Music Therapy program. As a student he served on the executive board of the national men’s music fraternity: Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, was President of the Pacific Music Therapy Association, and a member of both Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Fraternity.
Leland completed his internship at the Sonoma Developmental Center in Eldridge, California, working primarily with adults with developmental disabilities. During that time he also worked with at-risk teens at the nearby Hanna Boys Center. His internship was completed in 2010 and in early 2011 Leland became a board certified music therapist.
Currently Leland is back at University of the Pacific now enrolled in classes to attain a Master’s degree in Music Therapy.

Experience
Leland currently works with a number of different therapeutic populations. As a current graduate student at University of the Pacific he is working with children ages 3-5 with intellectual disabilities. He also works in the memory care unit at the Thornton Commons Assisted Living Community. Leland also works seasonally through Learn It Systems where he tutors children ages 5-12 in Math and Language Arts.

Hobbies/Interests
Leland’s hobbies include writing, reading, and songwriting. He also enjoys running and occasionally rock wall climbing. When not being incredibly busy with school and work he can be found playing video games in his apartment with his cat, Mya, on his lap.
